RAZER PHONE : The Review
This one's a paradise for gamers. Here comes The Razer Phone. If you have ever heard about the Nextbit Robin, then you'll be able to figure out the similarity by seeing it. This is the first phone by Razer which is basically a laptop manufacturing or more specifically a gaming company. Let's divide this review.
Design : Similar to the Nextbit Robin, the Razer phone has a rectangular box design which comes with all metal body and only one color (i.e., matte black). It has dual rear facing cameras, one front facing camera, 5.7 inch screen, dual speakers in the front, volume buttons on the left and power button on the right which has a finger print sensor embedded on it. It has a hybrid sim slot at the right. Unfortunately there's no headphone jack but a high quality adapter which is to be connected to the USB type-C is provided in the box.
Display : This thing has got a 5.7 inch Quad-HD IPS display. This display has a 120Hz refresh rate and its the best in the business. Scrolling through the UI has become smoother than ever and since it's a phone for the gamers, this spec is absolutely worth it.
Sound : The Razer phone comes with dual stereo front facing speakers and these are the best and also the loudest speakers on a smartphone as of now. They're so loud that they can actually be compared with a low budget Bluetooth speaker.
Battery : For a phone to run such high quality games it needs a greater battery life. This phone ticks that category too. It has a 4000mAh battery and it does the job. It can give upto 6 hours of screen-on time.
The above mentioned specs were only the highlights of this phone but what adds on to this beast is the Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 GPU, 8gb RAM, 64gb internal storage. The software is close to stock Android and the launcher built in is actually Nova Launcher Prime, so there's a lot of customization options and it comes with Android 7.1 out of the box.
The only thing on this phone which may be the deal breaker for some of them would be the camera. It has a pair of 12mp cameras at the back, the main camera having an f/1.8 aperture and the secondary telephoto lens having an f/2.6 aperture. The front is an 8mp camera with f/2.0 aperture. Though on paper the specs look good, these cameras are a real disappointment.
Overall, the Razer phone priced at US$700 is a perfect pick for the gamers out there and definitely checks all the boxes of a "gaming" smartphone. Brb.
